Mariko Kusumoto
Mariko is an artist maker of Japanese origin who creates three dimensional pieces which incorporate found objects, metalwork, fabric, thread and representational imagery. Her textile pieces inspire a sense of wonder in the viewer and have developed through intensive experimentation with challenging technical processes. Mariko’s creative practice reflects her playfulness with qualities such as softness, texture, fragility, contrast and translucency. In all of her work there is a consistent insistence on skill and craftsmanship.
